Black and white photograph of watercolour attributed to Ernest W. Christmas Pensioner’s Tenet near the Causeway 1902 (over 1904?), Signed M? Christmas over another signature. Colonial Eye cards, AGWA.

It is likely that M. Christmas is Martha Christmas the mother of three WA artists, Ernest W. Christmas, Ethel Christmas and Nellie Christmas. Martha Christmas was not an artist.
The title and date suggests subject matter common to Ernest W. Christmas who regularly visited his parents in Cottesloe and was active during the dates above and regularly worked in watercolour. It could possibly be Nellie Christmas but no works in watercolour are known. It cannot be Ethel Christmas who changed her name by marriage to Mrs. H. F. Ross in 1900 and moved to Bunbury.
