painter, trained at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh before coming to Australia for his health in 1863. An Australian oil landscape signed and dated 'Lockhart 1865’ was offered for sale by Christie’s (lot 32, Australian and European Paintings, Drawings and Prints, Part 1 & 2 , Melbourne 25-26 November 1997, estimate $15,000-20,000). According to Christie’s he returned to Scotland some time after 1867.
