professional photographer, was born on 12 September 1847 in Birmingham, England, son of William Millington Nixon and brother of Joseph and Stephen Nixon . Existing cartes-de-visite indicate that he worked in South Australia, probably having started out with the firm of Nixon Brothers at Kapunda in 1862, a connection he appears to have continued after moving to New South Wales. He left soon after marrying Rose Hannah Ireson at Norwood on 28 January 1873. They had three children. Nixon died on 27 December 1922 at Hillston, New South Wales, and was buried in Manly Cemetery. His carte-de-visite studio portrait of an Aboriginal man in European dress was exhibited at Sydney in 1989.
