Goldman was a Melbourne cabinet maker and designer who worked exclusively in Australian timbers. His work varied from the ornate and finely carved (commemorative table for the Australian War Memorial) to the modern (furniture for the Marion and Walter Burley Griffin's Cafe Australia, Melbourne). He sold work in England, Europe, and America and exhibited in Paris.
