Gunybi Ganambarr works through the Buku-Larrngay Mulka arts centre at Yirrkala in the Northern Territory. In 2008 he was the winner of the Xstrata Coal Emerging Indigenous Artist Award at the Gallery of Modern Art (Queensland Art Gallery).
