Swifte uses a variety of drawing, printmedia and photographic techniques to create works which contemplate the natural environment.

Many of her works are subtle and require audience participation, to move about the room to be able to see the different qualities of the markmaking.

Her 2009 exhibition, 'Apogee/Perigee, Drawing on Astronomy’ (Canberra Contemporary Artspace), comprised of metal drawings on stretched paper depicting the night sky. The audience moved about the room to view the work from different angles, much like observing different constellations.
