Franecisco Petrolo was born in Chiaravalle Centrale, Calabria, Italy in 1951 and emigrated to Australia in 1980. He served as an apprentice blacksmith in Calabria where he learned the fundamentals of the trade. Petrolo's main medium is sculpture however his art is also expressed through his design in more practical pieces such as furniture.
