Fred Barrie b. 1903

Barrie was a timber-getter, furniture design and maker initially resident in Newcastle. His family had a photography business in Beaumont Street where he also had his first workshop. He apprenticed as a cabinet maker and by 1934, he had two employees. He manufactured veneer wireless cabinets and other items for local and export sales. Work by Barrie is in the Newcastle Museum.
