Ethleen Palmer was one of the generation of women printmakers who have come to characterise Australian art in the decades between World War I and World War II. During World War II she taught remedial art practice to returned soldiers. At the end of the War she founded an art school, the Double Bay Studio, that ran from 1945-1951.
